EVALUATION 7: Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

EVALUATION 6: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

EVALUATION 4/5: Who would be the audience for your media product and how did you attract/address your audience?

My target audience is similar to NME or SPIN’s.  I aimed to appeal to young audiences between the ages of 16-25 who like indie music.  However unlike SPIN and NME  I aimed to attract both genders, not just males.
I did not aim my magazine at any specific class or ethnicity, but to make my magazine suitable for the age range I was targeting I made sure the magazine was neat and sophisticated but not too plain and boring so as to appeal to young adults.   I used a unisex colour scheme to make my magazine appealing to both genders.  The use of the colour red avoids gender sterotyping that comes with colours such as pink or blue making the magazine accessible to both genders equally.

My focus group were specific to my target audience so their opinions helped me make minor decisions such as what to name my magazine.  They were in the age range I was targeting and so they would give me good results when trying to make decisions as the magazine was aimed at people like them so receiving their opinions was very helpful.

EVALUATION 3: What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Spin Media distributes Spin magazine which I used as the main inspiration for my magazine.  They also distribute Vibe magazine which is a more mainstream music magazine, suggesting they want to reach as many audiences as possible with the magazines they distribute.  Due to the fact my magazine is very similar to Spin, this may mean Spin Media would be interested in distributing PAIISE.  However, because they already have a magazine designed for a young ‘Indie’ audience they may not want to distribute a very similar magazine.   Baur Media Group may be interested in my magazine as they are the publishers of Q Magazine which is very different to my magazine. Q Magazine focuses on rock music and is aimed at elder people (mainly 30-40 year olds) and mainly men whereas PAIISE is aimed at young adults.  This could persuade Baur Media Group to expand what they distribute by investing in my magazine.

EVALUATION 2: How does your media product represent particular social groups?

EVALUATION 1: In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
